i am obsessed with the art and architecture that was produced under the works progress administration in the 30s and 40s. I would love to see our country return to this mindset of valuing art. april bought me a book featuring the posters of the wpa for a studio warming gift - sweet!

last night layne was hit in the head with an airsoft bb – approximately 2 inches above his right eye. after much concern...are your pupils dilated? do you feel sick to your stomach?...he survived the night. he was back to practicing his pronounciation of " 'ello guvnah' " this morning at breakfast.

it's been a pretty exciting night. layne left one of the hamster cage doors open. chi chi's. after much digging through many, many toys (who bought him all this STUFF?) we actually found her. or i should say, april did. she was in the back of his closet behind the toybox. we are very lucky and she's pretty exhausted - poor girl!

this is michael…he's a soldier that we adopted. all that really means is that we send him mail. pretty sweet gig - because in return we get cool photos of him doing amazing stuff we only see on tv! he's very cool, nice, friendly, easy to chat with - if you remember to - say a prayer for him. we wouldn't be where we all are without people just like him.

this morning as layne and i left the house – we both took a deep breath...SPRING! we got in the car and rolled down the windows. the violent femmes were on the radio – after approximately 30 seconds of song - layne declared "ok, let's not let this ruin a beautiful spring morning..." and turned the radio off.

last night i was running the water to wash up the dinner dishes.
i started humming "sixteen going on seventeen" from the sound of music (why i don't know - it makes perfect sense to me). i began to sing the words when i got to the part where rolf sings "you are 16..." and layne came running in the kitchen - singing "...going on 17, baby it's time to think..."
YES! i am the best mother in the world! although the funny thing is that we haven't watched this movie together yet.

our babee has come at last... holden orion was born on january 22 at 6:55pm. he is the second best baby ever and somewhat good-looking. i met with him the day after he was born and he seemed fine. he didn't smoke either...

my sister's birthday

today is my sister's birthday - however still not her babee's birthday. we are still waiting. we are no longer waiting for a jackpot though - april won her very first jackpot today. after being forced to go to the casino in mount pleasant - she was super lucky and won $635! nonbelievers, see above photo!

today is my sister lori's due date for our new babee. we are very excited and waiting patiently to hear when the babee is coming to life. i will be heading out to visit said sister and babee as soon as we hear about the babee being born. i have asked that the babee NOT smoke when i am visiting as this might bother me (day 15). the babee and i will be having some cocktails however...

Happy New Year! It is a beautiful Monday morning...snow fell during the night! We are trying to quit smoking...april and layne are doing well with their attempts at not smoking and have been very encouraging. I have already gained weight however and cannot sleep for more than 5 hours at a time. I am told that this will pass...(soon please).
